On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds 2Cor10:4b Our weapons are not the weapons of the world. We do not fight as the world does. We fight the fight of faith so as to win. We fight in such a way that God becomes our greatest ally. What are our weapons? The tongue is one of them. When we speak to the mountain to cast it into the sea, when we confess the word of God in spite of and regardless of circumstances, when we plead the blood of Christ to win salvation for the lost, when we praise God and pray in the Spirit, when our tongue speaks no evil, when we encourage others, our tongue becomes a mighty weapon to demolish strongholds. We will become effective warriors when, as James tells us, only pure water flows from the tongue. Our righteousness is another weapon. According to second Peter when we add to our faith, virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge, temperance, to temperance, godliness, to godliness, brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness, love, we can not fail or fall. Our righteousness, as St. Paul tells us in Ephesians six, is armor. It is our breastplate. Truth becomes a buckle around our waist and our feet are shod with the gospel of peace. In order to become righteous by faith we must deal with our flesh and crucify it. Fornication, adultery, evil passion, greed, anger, jealousy, deceitful talk, and lying must cease. The word of God is another weapon. All scripture is God breathed and useful for instruction and correction that the man or woman of God would be thoroughly furnished unto every good work (2Tim3). The word of God is sharp and powerful. It penetrates and pierces to the dividing of soul and spirit, joint and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Heb4:12). The word is a lamp unto thy feet and a light unto thy path (Ps119:105). By knowing the word of God one can speak to infirmities, weaknesses, trials, temptations, and the devil and advance the kingdom of God. It is a mighty weapon to demolish strongholds. The obedience of faith is another one. He who is righteous through faith shall live (Rm1:17). We must discern the voice and the leading of the Spirit to overcome fear, peer pressure, and human logic as God takes us deeper into his will and his ways. Faith, the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of what is unseen, is necessary in order to please God. We are children of Abraham through faith and by faith we can decree the blessing and decree the glory of God. Entering into the quiet and fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit is another one. Be still and know that I am God (Ps46:10). In quietness and confidence shall be your strength (Isaiah). Communing with nature and leaving the lure of the world helps too. Build yourself up in the faith by praying in the Holy Ghost (Jude20). Leaving the world, (we are in the world but not of the world), puts us in a place to hear from God and when we hear from God victory is certain. Receive the weapons! Amen |
