You Only Have Now

The future is born in the present.  A different definition of Karma

In St. Augustine’s essay On Time, he makes this observation.  The future is always in the future.  The past is always in the past.  And the present is always slipping into the past.  Clock time as the experience of time differs from timelessness in this.  If you have ever gone to a good movie, a two hour movie can seem like ten minutes.  It is in essence an experience of eternity.  There is no awareness of time.  It is like being with someone you love and being totally engaged in that experience.  You say, “Where did the time go!”  We need so desperately to get out of clock time to experience the presence of God.

Now is all you have.  Begin now.  If you have not asked Jesus into your heart, do so now.  If you have not learned how to still the soul, start now.  Sit with nature or sit with soft instrumental music and begin the journey that has no distance but great benefit.  Spend time in prayer now.  Spend time in the Word of God now.  Spend time with God now.  Now is the only time you have and it is ever moving into the past.  Unless you discover how to get out of clock time, you will never experience God.

Your future is defined by every present moment.  If you wait, you may just come to the end of your life with no preparation for death and resurrection, one to life or one to death.

NOW is all you ever have!

Amen
