It was the
Perfect Storm. Sandi reeked havoc on the
northeast and brought millions seeking shelter.
I pray you managed to survive. If you did not loose a loved one then
it’s time to take a spiritual index.
Did
you lose your peace as the storm approached or were you like Jesus asleep
in the boat?
- If you
lost possessions, did you find yourself unduly attached to them which
caused you to lose your peace and serenity?
- If you
lost power, did the lose of TV, internet,
and maybe cell phone create irritability as you had to sit in silence
without entertainment?
- If you
almost ran out of gas, did you lose your peace when you could not go where
you wanted, when you wanted?
- If you
were without power, you spent many nights with flashlights and candles and
lose of heat. How was that
experience, not having the usual amenities of life?
- With
many others in the same situation, did you share your possessions with
others who may have not even had what you did?
- If you
were with other people, did they get on your nerves being stuck with them
for many hours or did you find contentment?
Silence and solitude are two
important keys to the spiritual life.
The storm either brought out the best or the worst in you. An examination of your spiritual life in
times of stress is a good way to gauge your spiritual progress. There is no condemnation to those who are in
Christ but there may be need for improvement in your life. Take time to ask God what you need to do to
become more like Christ. Amen
