Three Steps to Recovery

  1. Step One: Live in the Truth.

Abraham believed God and did not look on his age or that of Sarah.  In the same way do not dwell on the facts and circumstances of your life.  Don’t dwell on the past and don’t worry about the future.  Learn scriptures of success.  “I am filled with all the fullness of God”  “By his stripes I am healed”  “God delights in the prosperity of his children”  “Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the World”   The Truth is eternal.  It never changes.  Facts are temporal.  Facts can change.  God can turn any situation around.  Live by faith.

  1. Step Two: Learn how to win.

In sports teams must learn not only how to lose by not getting to low but also how to win.  A team that does not get too high when it wins learns how to maintain a good mental and spiritual state thereby sustaining a winning attitude.  In the same way you must not allow anything to get you too high.  Not only drugs and alcohol, but also sports, the opposite sex, money and greed, and even religion must be kept in check.  For an addict getting high is a symptom of a greater problem.  Learn how to live in peace.  Learn how to stay calm, cool, and collected.   “Be still and know that I am God.”  “In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”  “Be anxious for nothing”  “Cast all your cares (worry) on Him, for He cares for you.”  “Peace I leave you.  My peace I give you.”  Stay focused on the goal of success.

  1. Step Three: Establish a routine that fosters respect.

The carnal mind is death.  The spiritual mind is life and peace.  When you lived in the world, you lived a carnal life, a life of the flesh.  Now you must cultivate a spiritual life.  You must develop good habits.  Good hygiene like taking a daily shower, wearing clean clothes, eating properly, and getting proper sleep are important to developing self esteem.  Spending time in prayer and reading the bible are helpful.  Associating with people who are healthy and spiritual is also important.  Avoid places and situations that you would associate with the old nature.  Be patient.  Run the race so as to win.  It’s not a sprint but a marathon.
