Progress

The way we measure our spiritual progress is not in how much money I give or who I can quote, but in how many times I get disturbed in the course of a day.  Do I smile and am I lighthearted or do I grumble and complain?  That is the measure of spiritual progress and no other.  But how to attain it, that is the question.  The answer is awareness.  To begin, we must make a decision not to harbor negative thoughts.  When a coworker is getting on my every nerve today, I must recognize that maybe I was more tolerant a week ago and he would not have effected me this way if I was in a different space.  By choosing not to judge or criticize, I can remain peaceful and calm.  The problem more often is in me and not in the other person.  Secondly I must not allow other people to dictate my mood.  No matter what another person says or does, I can choose to remain happy and focused in my job and in doing so make progress and be an asset to the company by not letting another person bring me down.  By recognizing I have power over my life I can become a dynamic force in the company and in life as well.  EOM
