Let Patience have its perfect  work , that you may be perfect and complete having no lack  Jm1:4

We have become a patient person when our flesh is dormant, mortified as it were.

The deeds of the flesh are anger, lust, hatred, envy, jealousy, lying, stealing, bad language, greed.

When our flesh is dead our thoughts come to the obedience of Christ.

Patience is an important goal of a Christian.

I want to talk about anger and lust

Anger is a part of human nature.  We can have righteous anger for example.  When anger is inflated, it is a spirit of anger.  Moses didn’t enter the Promised Land because of anger.

Awareness helps us to control anger.  If we have spent time in silence and stillness and have established a center, then when we become aware that someone or something is taking away our peace, we can come back to our center and restore peace.

By casting down imaginations we can restore peace.

Sexuality is energy for relationships.  All people are sexual creatures.  When there is sexual interest we are more apt to engage.

Lust means I must have it at once.  It is sexuality inflated.  David seeing Bathsheba  bathing caused him to commit adultery and murder.  It was a spirit of lust.

Men are sexual visually, by touch, and by imagination by thought or reading.  If he is sexually stimulated by becoming aware of his altered state he can choose to engage or choose not to engage.

Women have the same sexuality as men but one more factor.  They have a biological clock.  Not only do they have menstruation, they also ovulate.  When they ovulate they are fertile and can conceive and when they are infertile they cannot conceive.

Ovulation has a sexual component.  Women experience breast fullness, nipple sensitivity, heightened temperature and a change in vaginal mucus from clear and watery (non-conducive to penetration) to stretchy and like egg whites (conducive to penetration and sperm movement.)

When a woman becomes aware of her body, she can know when it is a good time to have intercourse to conceive.

The woman at the well had five husbands and she was with a man not married to him. That is a spirit of lust.  It is inflated sexuality.

Two Corinthians ten tells us to cast down imaginations and bring every thought to the obedience of Christ.  We cast down imaginations by not brooding over things that make us angry or things that drive us to improper sex.  By being aware of our thought life we can become patient with respect to anger and sex.  If we have a spirit of anger or lust we must pray for deliverance, use faith by confessing scripture like “I crucify my flesh with its affections and lusts” and we need to confess to at least one person we can trust.

In Roman seven Paul tells us that if we are born again and dealing with the flesh, it is the flesh that is doing it and not we ourselves.  Therefore there is no condemnation only prayer  and faith to help us secure the victory.

Let patience have its perfect work.  Amen
