Sin, sickness, and death entered into the world through Adam's transgression even to those who hadn't sinned according to the transgression from Adam to Moses (Rm5:14). What that means is that sin, sickness, and death are in our flesh even if we don”t break the law. We are born with a corruptible nature. As long as the flesh is active, we will continue to sin. We will continue to get sick and we will accelerate our physical death. That is why St. Paul says “that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed” (Rm6:6) and “For he that is dead is freed from sin.” (Rm6:7). What scripture is telling us is we have “to crucify our flesh with its affections and lusts” and “become free from sin and become servants of righteousness”. We do this by faith and receiving the Spirit of Christ. “And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness” (Rm8:10). The way to avoid sin, sickness, and death from sickness is to live a righteous life. To do that we must be born again, we must receive the Holy Spirit, not live under the law, and our flesh must be dead. The starting point of all our actions and our behavior towards others must be Spiritually based not carnally or legally based. “To be carnally minded is death, to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”(Rm8:6) The yoke of sin, sickness, and death is removed by having the anointing. “and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing” (Is10:27) To avoid the consequences of the fall, we must not only break legalism, but our flesh must be dead as well. The strength of sin (sickness and death) is the law (1Cor15:56) and we have inherited a sin nature from Adam. So our conscience must be free from the law and our actions must be free from the flesh. Christ came for us to have life and an abundant one (Jn10:10). He came that we might know the truth and the truth shall make us free. (Jn8:32) We appropriate all the blessings of Christ through faith. You are saved by grace through faith and you crucify the flesh by faith, receive the Holy Spirit by faith and you walk by faith. Faith is the victory. Our flesh is corruptible and carnal. As long as we operate from the flesh we are prone to sin. If the flesh is dead and we walk in the Spirit, we will live and sin, sickness and death will be avoided. Jesus came to experience death for us so that when our body dies, our spirit will go to be with him. We were meant to live a victorious life in Christ. It begins by being born again, dying to the flesh, and receiving the Holy Spirit. Ask him into your heart and ask for the Holy Spirit and die to the flesh and no longer live under the law. Then you will live free from sin, sickness, and death and what scripture says will be true.Amen |
