Make Room For God

God wants more than anything else, once we have had our sins removed, is that we make room for the Spirit in our lives.  The world with all its lures: TV, the Internet, Movies, Secular Music, Philosophy and Literature and Sports, is a constant drain on the Spiritual life. The process is a painful one.  We love those things.  They appeal to our senses and to our emotions.  Yet they keep us cluttered and occupied and busy.  To free ourselves from them is painful and in many instances undesirable.  But unless we do we will not grow in grace and truth and the power and might of God will not be evidenced in our lives.  We must make room for God and it is a choice we have to make daily until we form good habits and begin to enjoy the blessings of God more than the blessings of the world.

The process of growth begins with the word.  Faith comes by hearing, and by hearing and reading the word, our faith grows.  Our faith is a gift but to make that gift grow we must spend time in the word.  Once this becomes a practice our faith can move the Spirit, can stir the Spirit up, and the Spirit will begin to manifest Christ to us.  We will begin to have discernment, revelation, and wisdom and it will move us to speak God breathed words into the lives of those we meet and into our own lives as well.  We know from the parable of the sower that the cares and concerns of the world can choke the word and hinder us from bearing fruit so we must make room for God.  Unrepentant sin can choke the word as well.  So too being plagued by unclean spirits hinders the word from bearing fruit.

Making room for God is a choice that once yielded to brings about fruit.  All our actions should spring from this desire for God to increase and our natural life to decrease.  As we do this we grow in grace and truth and in power, authority, and might.  So make room for God and you will be a blessing not only to the world but especially to God.  Know too that just as the natural man kicks and fights against yielding to the Spirit, the world as well will resist the Spirit and the word and your change of conduct.  In the world there will be tribulation and persecution: as with Jesus so with us.  But as Jesus said be of good cheer I have overcome the world and so will we.  So fight the good fight of faith and be not conformed to the world but be ye transformed.  Eventually it will yield the fruit of righteousness for those trained to discern both good and evil.

Amen
