He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide
under the shadow of the Almighty Ps91:1
Our journey begins when we hear the call of God, plead the blood, and repent for past failures. It moves forward when we receive the Holy Spirit and begin our life of prayer, learning the word, and putting it into practice. It continues as we enter into fellowship with other Christians and as we endeavor to bring the unsaved into the kingdom. But the secret place is only found when we abandon the world and all its empty promises and begin to spend quality time in stillness, silence, and solitude. That becomes for the believer the dwelling place where your communion with God is a secret place shared only between yourself and God, where you open yourself up to him in freedom and honesty, and where God begins to reveal himself to you in ways that are personal and unique. The secret place is an intimate place. It is an anointed place. It is a purely private place, but when you dwell in it, when abide under its shadow of the Almighty, it becomes your own personal place with God and you grow in grace and truth. So the secret place is not a public place, it is not shared with others, but others see the fruit of your dwelling there and can be blessed by your experience with God. So what makes the secret place a secret is very few people find it or dwell in it. Unless we move away from the world, move away from self and selfishness, move away from willfulness and desire, one will never find it and the secret will remain hidden from you and a mystery to you. You will wonder why accidents happens, sickness overtakes you, and life has its ups and downs. But as you begin to dwell in the secret place, far away from the world and sin, far away from lust and greed, far away from selfishness and corruption, we begin to receive all the blessings of Psalm 91. We begin to abide under the shadow of the Almighty. We begin an intimate relationship with God. So begin the journey to the secret place. Begin the journey to the blessing. Begin the journey to eternal life and peace and joy. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all else will be your reward. |
