Ye
also are living
stones, are built up a spiritual house
1Pet2:5
We are not born spiritual. We are born with a wounded nature. Our soul life, how we think, how we feel, what we desire is worldly. We judge others rightly or wrongly. We may pity our circumstances. We may be jealous or envious. Money may be our God. We may be prideful and conceited. We may hold a grudge. All circumstances indicate we live in a fallen kingdom and in an isolated world. This is what it means to live in darkness. We can go to church all our lives and never enter the kingdom of God. We may hear the words of scripture every Sunday and not change, be born into a spiritual kingdom, a kingdom of love. Jesus was spiritual. He spoke from the Spirit. His love was not based on natural heredity, prejudice, or physical looks. His message was telling people that there is a kingdom where love is available not of this world and only by receiving Him can you enter that kingdom, only by putting his words into practice is eternal life attainable. We build the kingdom one stone at a time. We enter the kingdom by loving others as if they were our own parents, children, or siblings. We cannot build the kingdom of God if we are unspiritual. We must learn the secret of silence, of looking at trees and just looking, not analyzing or dissecting but stilling the soul to receive inner peace. The kingdom of God is peace and joy and love. It is free of burden. It is free of fear. It is free of judgment and anger and bitterness. It does not need copious amounts of money to be happy and content. We enter that kingdom when we realize that the ground we have stood on all our lives is sinking sand. Ask Jesus to give you the kingdom and He will supply your every need and building a spiritual house with Jesus as the cornerstone your only desire. Look up for your salvation is nigh and Jesus waiting to embrace you with open arms.Amen. |
