I desired the full experience Not only the joy that healing and miracles bring But the passion and the suffering that sanctification brings I desired the full experience Not only the attention that operating in the Spirit brings But the solitude and silence that separation from the world brings I desired the full experience Not only the wealth that prosperity brings But the poverty of spirit that ministering to the poor brings I desired the full experience Not only the freedom that life in the Spirit brings But the constraint of the Spirit that being a bond slave to Christ brings I desired the full experience It has not always been light and merry It has brought deep awareness of the human condition Suffering temptations: The temptations of Christ Experiencing pain and sorrow Anxiety and fear: The sadness of the world Yet He has brought me through And I have heard Him say Blessed is the man And for that I would suffer the loss of all things For the sake of Christ and His church To be found faithful and true Amidst a crowd of paltry things And my own humanness and lowliness To know Christ And the fellowship of His suffering And the power of His resurrection The full experience I knew but did not know what that desire would bring Will you too drink from His cup? It is a life of faith And a journey to holiness Amen |
