What A Friend
02/22/2014
George Poulo

In this world of trial and test
When life is subject to much unrest
Where sickness and pain leads to death
And the news of the world takes our breath
What we need more than religion is a friend
One who stays with us from beginning to end
Who gives us peace when the darkness prevails
And the news of the doctor takes the wind from our sails

What a friend is Jesus my Lord
Who teaches us to live in one accord
Where patience is learned through the perils we face
And seeing us through adversity as we run the race
Becomes hope for today and tomorrow too
Where the challenges of life can no longer make us blue
As faith replaces fear and anxiety replaced with a song
And nothing can shake our confidence for long

More than religion is this friend of ours
Who abides within and shares his powers
As we rise up with wings like an eagle
Once beggars and poor but now we are regal
Strong are we full of vigor and zest
Now we are sons no longer a guest

What a friend is this Jesus
What a friend to behold
Up close and personal
No longer remote
Where victory is certain
As we wait the final curtain
To live with him forevermore
And experience the ultimate cure

What a friend

amen
