We surmise the journey over When love breaks the spirit veil Only to find a battle to hover O'er the soul doomed to fail Love and lust, a torment deep Old Adam looms, the new a child The Corinth church was made to weep It could not tame carnality wild The Holy Ghost His gifts to bring To those ill-equipped to meet the call But love never fails to sing The song God longs to give to all So on the night He was betrayed He made bread His body for all to eat To nourish our souls by which He conveyed The depth of the mystery of Calvary's feat So to us who prevail, an epistle is read By our lives and our deeds, a community story To each who overcomes in triumph is led From victory to victory, and ultimate glory Christ Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life He ransomed us all by His cruel rugged cross And provided the means to deal with the strife To conquer the flesh, and all worldly loss Amen |
