The
Choice
03/02/2014
George Poulo
Before Christ I was
alienated from everything
From God and self,
from the world and man
I was never truly
happy without my friend and king
My life was
horizontal, far away from God's salvation plan
I was steeped in all
the worldly lore
From art to science
from literature to sports
I excelled in all and
thirsted for more
I dreamed of fame and
fortune in the upper courts
Though on the outside
a world of success
Within was darkness,
fear and doubt my friend
Neither stable nor
secure I must confess
Always needing more
was the message to send
I sought all that the
world could give
Believing the lie
satan planted in the tree
When our parents ate
the fruit and lost the right to live
And passed down the
curse to you and me
Only the gospel of
Jesus Christ offered a cure
Exchanging my sin for
the privilege to be
No longer frightened
but confident and sure
By choosing to follow
Jesus and accepting the plea
A sinner made
righteous by his death on a tree
The choice for you is
very clear
Either stay in the
dark and live in fear
Or open your heart
and make a vertical leap
Into the arms of the
Savior forever to keep
If you are looking
for more than this world can give
Jesus is the answer
and he is willing to exchange
Life for death and
the right to live
Eternally in heaven,
his death to arrange
If you are not happy
why not give Jesus a try?
Amen
