Not Simply Human

Not simply human is God's decree
When David faced Goliath on the battle field
The challenge would have provoked all to flee
But for the anointed, a sling and a stone did yield
Not simply human is the battle cry
When Daniel was placed in the lion's den
The less holy would have been the animal's supply
But God closed his mouth so Daniel could pray again
Not simply human and without excuse
For those born again and spirit filled
The prayer of faith, the shackles loose
It works for the anointed, not for the self-willed
If not for the Spirit God's challenge to all
Would seem more than a human could bear
Taking up our cross would cause us to fall
Nor could we stand life's wear and tear
Yet all things are possible by God's loving grace
And not to the swift and strong does the victory belong
But to those who choose to run this spiritual race
In Christ we can do all things, the Spirit's song
So do not judge nor by outward appearance look
Rather seek to be filled and pray for God's favor
Then like Daniel and David in God's holy book
Your life will bring to all a sweet smelling savor
amen
