Far away from the madding crowd
Alone and in the quiet free
No words are there to speak out loud
There is a hush and a mellow feel
To life without a faint of chill
As God and I and the Holy Spirit seal
No wish or want or strength of will
Enough to be quite set apart
To ponder and reflect
On the will of him in my heart
His wonder, my spirit now does not neglect
Peace a gift of lofty aim
As time stands still
And creatures tame
My body a temple nothing ill
Separate and free
The day be clear
The night tranquility be
With rapture near
Alone yet not alone
Empty of desire
God sets the tone
Of Holy fire
How glorious the presence of God
