How long does it take for a soul? To leave behind judgment and the parental role How long does it take for a man? To express his feelings as part of God’s plan When will women uncover All that is hidden from her lover When will the eye become a mirror? Seeing what is, without wish or will The eye a mirror Like God, in silence, not wanting to kill But only to redeem Many years I spent with the eyes of a child A scale of values, better or worse, was filed A hole within, dark and deep No one a friend, my soul could keep Till love rushed in and removed the veil Of my own self-pity, and filled the pale As I saw in others my own travail And my eye became a mirror...like God |
