Fading Light

by George Poulo

Our lives are but a fading light
That for a while like a lion roars
Only to whimper from our sight
As death like a troubling storm now pours

Our vision impaired from a carnal birth
We walk and we talk from darkness veiled
As we hide behind a shallow mirth
The result of Adam's life that failed

Only Christ can rescue from the fall
Though we do not know the danger near
His life a mystery doth call
The lost from the grave he does make clear

In Christ the king the light does shine
And in Him alone does wisdom come
To those who make the leap are fine
Not for all to hear but only some

Open your heart to discover
The one whose life can fill
The void left through sin and uncover
Grace and love and life fulfill

Only Jesus can heal
The scars
And the emptiness
And make salvation real

Ask him in your heart today
amen
