A well known preacher came to a town so the church decided to give him a banquet.  In front of him were fine silverware, choice delicacies, and a big juicy steak.  One of the parishioners, wishing to be like the preacher, asked for a piece of his steak.  The preacher, the discerning man that he was, readily agreed.  He took the juicy steak and cut a piece for the man but before he gave it to him he chewed it first.  The parishioner, bewildered, asked why.  And the Preacher replied,  “The word of God is like a big juicy steak, if all you ever do is wait for the preacher to chew it for you, you will never enjoy the banquet.”
