Can't Take the Credit
01/28/2013
George Poulo

Born in darkness and sin
Fear and trembling
My youth lost to the wind
Nothing of good resembling

The teens isolation and loneliness
Searching and mimicking
The music of an era
My wounds the dogs were licking

At twenty five a shadow
Mental illness  and despair
In desperation I took a leap
It became Christ's work to repair

Many years of suffering ensued
Storms without, Christ within
Years to learn
To be a good Christian

Can't take the credit
For any good that flows
From the heart of God through me
It's all grace, God knows

Born in darkness and sin
Raised to life and righteousness
It's all a gift from God
My holiness

The Lord desires the heart and mind
To die to self and worldly fame
To live for him alone
And receive eternal gain

Therefore,
I take no credit
All the glory his
Forevermore.

Amen
