Repentance is the
conscious awareness of salvation in one's life. It is the
manifestation of the work and efficacy of the cross bringing one to a
new creation. Jesus preached a gospel of repentance for the
forgiveness of sin. Salvation is already accomplished; repentance
let's us know we are saved. Now salvation is more than just going to heaven. Salvation is peace, freedom, prosperity, and health. If that is the case, then since health is a part of salvation, then repentance is necessary for health. John the Baptism preached a baptism of repentance and that baptism was necessary for a complete salvation which included health. Keeping this in mind, if, as you read this paper, something comes up in your spirit to be recognized and repented, do so. Recently I woke up and for no known reason I had fear of doing my job. It was an immobilizing fear that if I succumbed to it, would have paralyzed me to do my job. This fear has happened before. What is its cause? Here is another. For years I worked as a chemist in a laboratory. I could do a job a hundred times and yet, the next time I had to do the same job I would have fear that I would make a mistake. Where did this perfectionism come from? Or here is another. For years I would have nightmares that I would get lost or lose something. As a result I would fear getting lost or forgetting where I parked my car. Here is one more. There would be times when my wife would ask me to do something and I would react in a rage without any rhyme or reason and at other times her asking me to do something would be accepted quite peaceably. To answer these questions, we must go back to childhood. Before puberty a child lives in his or her perceptual life. Three chemicals are secreted at about eight to nine years of age which allows the frontal cortex to develop and abstract reasoning and logic begins to take place. Before this the hypothalamus gland is the central gland of the body dictating the function of the organs and glands of the body. When a child is calm, the hypothalamus gland is in homeostasis and the normal amount of chemicals is secreted in the body. If the child is threatened in any way, it triggers a fight and flight mechanism in the body and the body produces extra chemicals as a defense mechanism to ward off the danger. If the danger is perceived to persist, the body continues secreting extra chemicals. This threat to the child could be physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. It could be fear of rejection or abandonment. It could be lack of recognition and validation. If the child continues with unresolved issues, when the child reaches puberty, those chemicals secreted to produce logic and reasoning actually freeze the child in the past, and instead of using reasoning when situations trigger the hypothalamus, perceptions dominate and fear and stress and anxiety are manifested. This situation is called arrested development. Evidence of child trauma include being easily intimidated, isolating and mood changes, restlessness, nightmares, inattentiveness, preoccupation and daydreaming, and increased aggression and anger. In the teenage years, it gets more sophisticated. The teenager experiences a refinement of self-doubt, manipulation and control, fulfillment of rejection, sabotage, selfishness and self-centeredness, promiscuity, blame shifting, mutilation, eating disorders, judgmental and critical attitude, violence to pets, and problems with authority. By adulthood, the person projects blame on everyone and everything other than themselves. Avoidance of responsibility, internalization to control inwardly outward chaos, constant verbalization of problems, and switching from victim and martyr to rage and anger are all signs that one's life has developed with childhood arrested development. Maybe with ourselves or with others we have wondered when this person will ever grow up. Well until one takes ownership of one's behavior, growing up will not take place and healing will not occur. The bible says in Romans that 'he who yields to sin is a servant of sin' Satan is a legalist. We may have every good reason to justify our actions and behavior, but if the spirit of anger, bitterness, stress, anxiety, fear, lust, and doubt is yielded to, it will produce physical, psychological, and emotional pain that will be vented on others or oneself. Satan will use our woundedness against us. He will have a door to enter and he is just waiting to plague us with demons to torment us and bring about sickness. We must take ownership of our lives and repent for yielding to self-hatred and guilt, and fear and bitterness. Unless and until we do, we will go through life with unresolved issues and continue to walk in negative vibes and atmosphere. We must rebuke those spirits and demons and when our perceptions dominate our reasoning processes, we must recognize where the attack is coming from. If we get used to doing this, recognizing the conditioned behavior, taking responsibility for them, rejecting and rebuking them and repenting for past instances where we have yielded to them, the day will come when we will get healed of our physical and spiritual maladies, and begin to not ask for healing but walk in divine health. Behind much of our physical afflictions is a spiritual root which must be dealt with in order to be healed. Just as Jesus ministry of healing began with a gospel of repentance, so too, must we begin at the same place and in the same spirit. "A curse without a cause does not come." If we are experiencing any negative conditions in our life, the root just might be spiritual. Pray for the grace to discover the root and then cast it into the sea. "If we say to the mountain, be thou removed...we shall have what we say." Confess scripture for healing, faith, confidence, and boldness. Fight the good fight and do not yield to sin. Do not yield to fear, hatred, doubt, bitterness or unforgiveness. If you get angry, repent. Then I guarantee you physical healing will begin to manifest and you will not have a broken spirit or a heavy heart. Try it. It will work for you. God bless and so be it |
