God is love 1 Jn 4:8
Each person of the
Trinity imparts different spiritual gifts. The gifts of the Holy
Spirit are the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, to another faith,
to another the gifts of healing, to another the working of miracles, to
another prophesy, to another discerning of spirits, to another divers
kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues
(1Cor12:8-10). There are three mind gifts, three power gifts, and
three vocal gifts and they are all given by the selfsame Spirit.
In Ephesians four we learn that everyone is given grace according to
the measure of the gift of Christ (v.7) And he gave some, apostles, and
some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers; For
the perfection of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the
edifying of the body of Christ (v.11-12) In Ephesians two we
learn that the gift of God is salvation by grace through faith.
It is the gift of eternal life. The Father gives the gift of his
Son and the gift of the Holy Spirit and the fruit of the Holy
Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
meekness, and temperance. God so loved the world that he gave...
The way we receive the gifts is by living a life by faith.
We receive the Holy Spirit by asking, seeking and knocking. How
much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who
ask him (Lk11:13) We receive the gift of salvation through
repentance. If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and
believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved (Rm10:9) It is by faith we believe in the resurrection and
the life so “that Christ may dwell in your heart by faith”
(Eph3:17). Finally we receive the Father by humility. If
you receive a child in my name you receive me, yet not me but him who
sent me.(Mk9:37)
In heaven there are different degrees of glory. Just like
there is a glory of the sun and a glory of the moon and another glory
of the stars for one star differeth from another star in glory.
So also is the resurrection of the dead (1Cor15:41-42) It
behooves us to live by faith. It behooves us to love our neighbor
as ourself. It behooves us to crucify the flesh. Everything
we do now has eternal consequences. If you have not received some
of the gifts of the Trinity it is time to take stock of your
life. It is not only important to you but to your neighbor.
It is not only important for this life but for all eternity. If
you are saved, how brightly will your glory shine? If you are not
saved, do you really want to spend eternity in hell? It's as much
up to you as it is with God. Without faith it is impossible to
please him. You may be a nice person. You may be able to
keep the commandments pretty much in check. But unless you put
the word of God into practice, that is to say, live by faith, your
house is built on sand and will fall when the storms of life
come. The only way of knowing if you are on the right path is by
receiving gifts: the gifts of the Trinity.
So begin the journey. Ask Jesus into your heart. Ask
to receive the Holy Spirit. Do not waver. Just
believe. Become a student of the word of God. Determine to
love your neighbor. Repent when you sin. Make time for
God. Pray. Fellowship with believers. Forsake the
world. Humble yourself. God has gifts to give. Receive them.
Amen
