We walk by faith and not by sight
Walking by faith is not natural. Naturally we walk by
sight. Spiritually we walk by faith. When God tells us to
believe something or do something we have to by pass our senses and our
reason and trust in what He says. This process comes by “hearing”
the word of God and exercising the faith we receive when we are born
again. Abraham believed God in spite of his age and his stamina
and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. It was a walk by faith and not
by sight. Joshua and Caleb were of a different spirit than the
other scouts when they believed what God had said and not what they saw
in Canaan. Daniel walked by faith when he was placed in the
lion’s den and was not devoured. Noah walked by faith when he
built the ark. Every born again Christian receives a measure of
faith but not every Christian walks by faith. Why is that?2Cor5:7 Fear is the opposite of faith and that which is not of faith is sin. If we have a spirit of fear we will not trust God when he speaks or speak the word or lay hands on the sick or preach the gospel. If we live in fear we will not act in faith or trust in God. We must bind the spirit of fear so we will not be children of circumstance but children of faith. We must get into the word of God daily. We must surround ourselves with people of faith and forsake not the assembling of the faithful. We must confess the word even when our feelings and our thoughts contradict the word. We must be patient and persevering even when we fail to receive what we asked for. We must get to the place where we believe and act in spite of what we think or what we see. This process takes time because we have been conditioned to fear and only respond to what we see. This process of walking by faith and not by sight means that the natural man is dissolved. It means that we die to the things of the world and die to self. Nominal Christians do not mingle the word with faith and because of this, do not experience the presence of God in their lives. They hear the word but it never reaches the heart or they hear the word but fall away due to persecution or trial. They hear the word but the cares and concerns of the world choke it and they bear no fruit. Only those who have a good heart bear fruit with patience. Be children of the word. Be children of faith. Blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it and put it into practice. Be people who walk by faith and not by sight. Amen |
