Too Quick To Give The Answer

...for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you
But my Father who is in heaven  Matt16:17

Then he commanded His disciples that they should
Tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ   v.20

In this text Jesus tells Peter that the revelation that He was the Christ did not come from a book or a church service or a rumor from the street but from his Father in heaven.  Jesus goes so far as to say that the disciples should not tell anyone He was the Christ of God.  Merely knowing from a secondary source the truth that Jesus is the Christ deprives the person who takes it as a given that Jesus is the Son of God the joy of experiencing it first hand from God.  Book knowledge alone is not sufficient for the born again experience.  Hearing it preached from the pulpit without the necessary confirmation of the Spirit also is not sufficient to propel the person to forsake all for the kingdom and the Christ of God.  If you have been too quick to accept the answer without experiencing the Father whispering in your ear that Jesus is the Christ, maybe its time to be still and listen instead of running off to do some work for the church.  Maybe your pastor or priest has been too quick to give the answer and you have not discovered who this Jesus is for yourself.  If you take time to look at the trees and the lilies and consider the ravens maybe God himself will reveal Jesus to you and you will be born from above and life will take on new meaning for you and you can say with Jesus that it was the Father who revealed it to me and not some secondary source.  Amen
