When I am weak then I am strong 2Cor12:10b St. Paul is telling us something very profound. He is not telling us to succumb to weakness. He is not telling us to cower over persecution, trials, and infirmity. What he is telling us is that when the enemy attacks, when he is victimized by persecution, trials, or infirmity, it is then that he counterattacks. It is then that he exerts his strength. Many in the church whimper when the enemy attacks. Rather then exert strength, they retreat. This is not the solution to the onslaught of the enemy. We must show strength. It is the enemy who must retreat, not us. We must put on the full armor of God. We must use the word of God as a sword. We must speak to the mountain of difficulty that it may be removed and cast into the sea. We must fight the good fight of faith. We must not look at the things which are seen, but what is unseen. For that which is seen is temporal, but that which is not seen is eternal. Do not put more weight on the problem then on the word of God. In my Christian walk, I have faced major difficulties. It has called me to deeper conversion, spending more time in prayer and more time in the word. Yet it has taken me a long time to meet the challenges of the enemy by speaking the word, by believing that all things are possible with God, by forsaking the world and entering the quiet. In quietness and confidence shall be your strength (Isaiah). We must bring down the strongholds of the enemy. We do this by confessing the name of Jesus, pleading the blood of Jesus, entering into praise and worship, using scripture as a sword. That is how we demonstrate strength when we are weak. If we are sick we confess by his stripes we were healed. If we are persecuted, we confess that we are the redeemed of the Lord, whom the Lord has redeemed from the hand of the enemy. If it is a financial difficulty, we confess that God delights in the prosperity of his children and that we seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all the other things will be added unto us. If it is fear we confess that God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. We must not take a back seat to the enemy. When we are weak then we are strong. We do not cry or weep or groan and mourn. We exercise strength. We get at the business of receiving our victory. We do not speak the problem giving it power, we speak the solution. We speak the word. We enter the quiet. We take the enemy by the horns and make him retreat. Put your hand to the plough and do not look back. Amen |
