sling and a stone
1Sam17:40 David was a shepherd. Goliath was a warrior. David had no support. Everyone believed in Goliath. David had a sling and a stone. Goliath had a sword. David believed in God and his circumcision. Goliath was a heathen and uncircumcised. Faith gave David the victory and David slew Goliath with a sling and a stone. David did not look in the natural. He did not put weight in Goliath's size and strength, the unbelief of his Jewish brethren, or the power of the sword. David had been delivered from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear and he knew he would be delivered from the paw of Goliath. In order to 'get there' one needs only one weapon. That weapon is faith. If you look at the facts, if you look at your size, your health, your finances, your support, and esteem them of greater importance and of greater strength then the word of God, you will not get there. Take Saul for instance. He was anointed by Samuel as the first king of Israel, but rather than obeying God, he took Agag captive and the best of the livestock, esteeming them of greater importance than the word of God and for that lack of faith, lost his kingship, his anointing, and his peace. If you live in facts, if you live in the natural and do not live in the Truth, do not live in the word of God, you will utterly perish. Unless you begin to act in faith, trust in God, and obey his word, you will not get there. James tells us that the trying of our faith produces patience. “But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” To 'get there”, to live in victory, to live in the blessing requires faith and patience. Through faith and patience we inherit the promises. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Look closely at David. The Law did not bring David the blessing. He committed adultery and murder and he paid dearly for them. But what made David a man after God's own heart was faith. It was faith that brought the anointing, the kingship, the love of his people even though he sinned. We are all capable of sinning but not many have the faith of David. Through Adam and Eve we have inherited a sin nature but by faith in Christ we can receive the remission of sin, by faith we can be more than conquerors through Christ, by faith we can receive the Holy Spirit, by faith we can overcome sickness, poverty and lack, and by faith we will overcome death and receive eternal life. It was the faith of Abraham that made him the father of our faith. Faith made Isaac the child of promise. Faith brought the blessing to Jacob, to Joseph, to Samuel and all the saints of God.(Heb11) Step out of the natural. Live in the spiritual. Live in the word of God. Do not take in an evil report. Begin to live like David. Confess the exceeding greatness of God's power and live by faith. The just shall live by faith. If you don't live by faith you will perish and you will utterly fail. Only those who live by faith will enter the kingdom of God. By faith you can change the course of destiny. By faith you can live an abundant life. “We walk by faith and not by sight” 2Cor5:7 Get spiritual eyes. amen |
