Faith
comes by hearing
Rm10:17
Consider this. David broke two commandments of God. David murdered and David committed adultery. Yet David kept his kingship and kept his anointing because David acted by faith and took heed to the leading of the Spirit. King Saul, on the other hand, is not recorded that he broke any of the commandments of God. King Saul, however, disobeyed the word that God gave him and he lost his kingship, his anointing, and his peace. When St. Paul tells us we are not under the Law but under grace, it means that sin in the traditional sense is no longer operative. If sin is the transgression of the Law and we are no longer under the Law, sin looses its power. Sin is no longer in operation. We are free and we live under grace. Yet we are still answerable unto God. We must take heed to what we hear. We must follow the leading of the Spirit. Hebrews six tells us that those who have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come, if they shall fall away, it is impossible for those who are enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift and were partakers of the Holy Spirit, to renew them by repentance is not possible. Look at Jesus. He allowed the disciples to pick corn on the Sabbath. He touched lepers, touched the dead, and forgave a woman caught in adultery. All these examples are in disagreement with the Law. Yet Jesus always did what the Father showed him. He did not heal by formula. He told one to wash. He made dirt into mud and healed the blind. He multiplied fish and loaves. A woman with an issue of blood was healed by touching his garment. Jesus acted from what he heard. He acted through the leading of the Holy Spirit. He lived under grace and not under the Law, but he was obedient to the Father. If we are born again and Spirit filled, God will see if we are obedient to him or whether we are still being led by Law. We must take heed to what we hear. We must free ourselves from religiousity. We must free ourselves from Law, live under grace and obey what God tells us to do by the leading of the Holy Spirit. Faith comes by hearing and as we hear, we must overcome human logic, facts which contradict the word of God and obey the still small voice of God. Obedience to the Law is duty. Obedience to God is justification. Allow God to make you free. Allow God to take you to a higher plane. Allow God to put you in his kingdom. The just shall live by faith. He whose righteousness is faith shall live. Enter the quiet. Learn to heed the voice of the Lord. It is obeying God that pleases him, not obeying the Law. Live by faith and do what God tells you to do. At all costs, obey the word of the Lord: the word that comes by hearing. Amen |
