Beholding and Change

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord,
Are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit
Of the Lord.
2Cor3:18

In Mark 9:24 the father of a demonized child says to Jesus, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.  How do we do this?  How do we get people to increase their belief?  Jesus has said that all things are possible to them who believe so it is very important that we get people to have more faith: to have more belief.

We recently learned that to move in the Spirit one needs to be sensitive, obedient, humble, knowledgeable, and motivated, yet most people are insensitive, disobedient, proud, ignorant, and unmotivated.  How do we get people to change?  The answer lies in the above scripture.  If we can get people to behold the glory of the Lord, they will be changed.  The role of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers is to get people to behold Jesus.  To behold man, no matter how spirit-filled that person is, will not change you but to behold Jesus in his glory is to bring about change.  The way we get people to believe is to get them to see with a degree of understanding the glory of God.  When that is done the Spirit of God will bring about change in their life that will magnify the Lord.

The truth is we can behold the wrong thing and by beholding the wrong thing we do not have the power to bind and loose.  In Matthew 7 Jesus tells us not to judge.  If we behold the mote in another person’s life, if we judge a person for having sin in their life, it means that this beholding, this judgment,  is a beam in our own eyes.  In order to cast out that mote in our brother’s life, we must behold the beam (A spirit of judgment) in our own lives which to Jesus is a far greater sin than the mote in our brother’s eye and by beholding that beam be able to cast it out by the Spirit of God.

Beholding brings about change.  By beholding a spirit of judgment and condemnation in ourselves with regard to what we behold in our brother’s life we will be free to bind and loose the power of the enemy in the body of Christ.  By beholding the glory of the Lord we will be changed into that same glory as by the Spirit of the Lord.

The seeing eye and the hearing ear are both from the Lord.  If we are to be used of God in his purposes we must allow God’s word to change us as by the Spirit of the Lord.  By beholding we will be changed.

Amen
