The case for Atheism is not shallow or without rationality. Let me give you some of the arguments. 1.How can God be loving and all powerful when there are wars, earthquakes, famine, floods, and irrational deaths of children with much suffering and pain? 2.Why posit the eternity of God that you can not see rather than positing the eternity of the universe which you can see? There is as much credence in Evolution as there is in Design. 3.Science moved forward when scientists looked for natural solutions to problems rather than metaphysical ones like God and angels. As William of Ockham stated: Do not multiply metaphysical entities without strict necessity. 4.There have been more deaths due to war over religion than any other cause for war. 5.There is no evidence that substantiates the claim that religious people are more moral than people who are Humanists. 6.Since the advent of Christ, the world is still the same as it always was. 7.Talk of God is a figment of the imagination. The problem of salvation, however, is not relegated merely to the world. The church is also very much influenced by the world. Though God is the theme of the religious, the spirit of lust for money, power, fame and reputation is also prevalent. So is a spirit of religion where ritual and rules overshadow the spirit of love and good works where people make religion a source of income and security more than a stepping stone to reach people for Christ. Grace by faith is the only solution to the world's dilemma and though creation speaks of a creator and only a fool will say in his heart “There is no God” the authentic Christian has his work cut out for him or her. We are in the last stages of this world era and unless our faith truly makes a difference that people can see, few will be saved and many will be lost both in the world and in the nominal church. Jesus Christ, yesterday, today, and forever. Amen |
