I and My Father are one. Jn10:30 Everything Jesus spoke in the first person was prophetic and had the power of the Father behind it. When Jesus states that “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (Jn14:6) the “I” could refer both to himself and the Father as well. For Jesus, the Father was the way, the truth, and the life for he did only what he saw his Father do. (Jn5:19) So in Matthew eight verse three when the leper asks him will you make me clean, Jesus states, “I will, be thou clean” The “I” is not only referring to himself but the Father too. The “I will” is prophetic. He is saying both He and the Father are in agreement. In Philipians 2 we see that Jesus emptied himself and became nothing being obedient unto death. Jesus could do that because He knew the Father was in him. He knew he was apprehended by God and the Holy Spirit. He knew that God had laid hold of him and that He could not perish: not even death could hold him. This is the faith of Christ. He was possessed by God. He had power over sickness and disease and death. He knew He could not perish because the Father was with Him and in Him. It was similar for St. Paul. Because St. Paul was apprehended by God, he could suffer all the privations and difficulties being beaten and whipped, naked and shipwrecked. St. Paul knew because he was laid hold of by God, his destiny was eternal life with God. It is this that gave power to the preaching of Paul. For us it is the same. To have the faith of Christ we must be laid hold of by God. We must be possessed by another and we must know because of this fact our eternal destiny is assured and we should not fear the trials and tribulations that come our way. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us and God will always cause us to triumph in Christ. If it is the faith of Christ you seek, then get apprehended by God. If God lays hold of you then we can be bold and fearless and do the works of God. “Christ in you the hope of glory.”(Col1:27) Seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Seek to be immersed in God. Seek to be apprehended. Seek to be laid hold of. Seek the faith of Christ. Amen. |
