Seeing Jesus

When you see Jesus what do you see?

Usually people see him heal the sick, feed people, and suffer the cross.

He cursed a fig tree and it withered and died.
He drove people out of the temple with a cord and fire in his eyes.
He told people that even if you lust in the heart it is sin.
He let his friend die and waited two days before he went a raised him from the dead.
He told a rich young man to sell everything he had a take up his cross and follow him.
He said that the religious leaders of his day were whited sepulchers, pretty on the outside but had dead bones within.
He derided the scribes and lawyers as not entering the kingdom of God and keeping people from receiving the key of knowledge.
He let people follow him three days without food before he fed them.
He didn't stop John the Baptist from being beheaded.
He expected his disciples to leave family and their jobs for the kingdom of God.
All his disciples except John suffered a cruel death for their faith.
He spoke in parables that seeing they might not see and hearing they might not hear.
He told a religious ruler that he must be born again implying that keeping the law would not be enough to save him.
He told people not to take thought of what they will eat or wear.
He said narrow is the gate to heaven and few who go in thereat, but wide is the gate that leads to destruction and many there be that go in thereat.
He said if you judge you will be judged.  He will judge you by the same standard you judge others with.

There is more to seeing Jesus than you would expect or hear in most churches.  Yet unless you become new creatures in Christ you will not be saved.  Sobering words not to be taken lightly.

See Jesus and cry out to him to be saved.

Amen.
