The Art of Loving

May his face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
May the light of his countenance be upon you and may he give you peace.
Num6

I thought I would share some thoughts and insights on the art of  loving.

  1. Stay in the present and don't be somewhere else.  We miss so much in life because of living in our head.  Learn to appreciate all that is around you.
  2. Be attentive to whomever you are with.  By being attentive you make people feel special.
  3. Be free from attachments.  If you are dwelling on anything other than the present moment like people, places, money, fame, self, or fame and power, you miss the beauty of what is right in front of you
  4. Look and listen without judging.  When you just look and just listen, you learn to see and hear.  When you learn the art of looking and listening, discernment becomes a gift of the Spirit.
  5. Commune with nature.  It is a gateway to God.  Trees, birds, flowers, the sun, water, the sky open your spirit to God.  Spend copious amounts of time with Nature.
  6. Cultivate the gift of silence.  By stilling the soul one can receive from the Spirit.  If your mind is cluttered and busy, you can not see or hear.
  7. Do not grasp or cling from what is carnal but operate from the Spirit and touch will reach the heart and people truly will be touched.
  8. Tame the tongue it is an unruly evil.  Meditate on what is pure and good and honorable and praiseworthy.  When we are apprehended by God, words flow from the spirit and not from the flesh.
  9. Censor what you look at, what you listen to, and who you spend quality time with.  The world will draw you away from the spiritual.
  10. Finally, ask God for the Holy Spirit.  He is our comforter and our advocate.  With God all things are possible.

             Amen
