Silence is our entrance to
wisdom, knowledge, and peace yet few
become comfortable with it or desire it as a goal. In order to achieve silence one has to be a
person who overcomes. If one is hung up with
attachments, people, places, things, power, wealth, and fame, then silence
cannot be gained. The seduction of
attachments will keep the soul occupied endlessly with their pursuit and
silence will not be attainable. If one
is tormented by the past, fearful of the future, full of anxiety and worry,
silence will not be gained. The work
necessary to achieve silence is to conquer the self and ego and all worldly
desires. But if one chooses to seek
wisdom and peace over all worldly desires and spends the necessary time in
solitude and quiet, then silence will be achieved. When one truly becomes free, the soul is
still and God begins to speak the language of wisdom, knowledge, and peace. Free yourself from the encumbrances of the
world and you will enter into the divine.
God wishes to speak but more often than not we are not in a place to
listen. So if you truly seek wisdom
these are the conditions. That is why,
whether consciously or not, silence is not a choice and few become truly
wise. But if wisdom is your goal then do
the work, spend time alone, and be an unconventional type of person and silence
will become your gateway to God. Amen. |
