When scripture is read at church
Do you hear Him?
When He wants you to share His truth
Do you hear Him?
When He wants you to share your wealth

When He wants you to pray
When He wants you to shut the television
Or your computer
Or your cell phone
Do you hear Him?

Oh Lord
Open our ears to hear
Open our hearts to receive
Open our wills to obey
Remove the veil from our eyes
So that we may see
So that we may hear
So that we may yield
Unless we hear
Unless we see
We are far from your kingdom
Unless we hear
Unless we see
We are lost
We have no abiding future
We are headed in the wrong direction
Only darkness
Only despair
A friend of the world
Death

You are the Light of the world
Give us light that we may hear, that we may see
That we may receive
