Find It

Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one
piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek
diligently till she find it?  And when she found it, calleth her
friends and her neighbors together, saying rejoice with me, for
I have found the piece which I had lost.  Likewise, I say unto you
there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner
that repenteth.
Lk15:8-10

Find it!  Find the kingdom.  It is the most important undertaking in life.  More important than wealth.  More important than education.  More important than entertainment.  More important than getting high.  Finding the kingdom is finding eternal life.  Where you spend eternity is more important than living a life of health, wealth, and leisure.  It is the pearl of great price and the treasure found in the field that you sell all you have to buy it.  Until you believe that finding the kingdom is more important than any thing this world has to offer, you are still in darkness.  Until you believe that finding God is more important than hitting the lottery, you are far from the kingdom.  Until you see God in Jesus and repent of your sin, you will not enter the kingdom of God.

The kingdom of God is judgment.  It is a net cast into the sea that when it is full, gathered the good into vessels and cast the bad away.  So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth and sever the wicked from among the just.  And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (Mt13:47-50)  Get the message!  Unless you enter the kingdom, death, torment, darkness, and and separation from all that is good and loving and from all that is joyful and peaceful awaits you.  You will live in hell for all eternity without any comfort, without any hope, and without any love.  Is there anything more important in this life than finding the kingdom?  I think not.  Not only do I think not, Jesus doesn't think so either.  Put everything to one side and find the kingdom.

Does this scare you?  It should.  It scared me!  It scared me so much that fearing hell and damnation brought me to repentance.  It brought me to make a commitment to God that I would give up my way of doing things, give up my will and follow Christ.  This holy fear brought me to my knees, brought me to a place of meditation, brought me to the place of looking up rather than looking to the world and I experienced God.  What will it take to convince you that what Jesus said is absolutely true?  Will it take sickness and poverty to get you to look up?  Will it take hunger and destitution to bring you to your knees?  Or will you step out of darkness, believe what Jesus says is true and ask for forgiveness?  Will you ask Jesus into your heart and begin your journey to God or will you attempt to live your life without God, doing your own thing, living in the fast lane, thinking that there are no consequences to your actions?  Don't fool yourself and don't be a fool!  Only the fool believes there is no God!  Not only does God exist, Jesus is telling us that he is a God of judgment as well as love.  If you find the kingdom, you will experience the love of God.  If you do not enter the kingdom, judgment will banish you to hell.  That is the choice and that is the human predicament.  We are sinners needing to be saved and only Jesus is the Savior.  So at all costs, Find it!  Find the kingdom.

amen
