Discernment in Prayer

What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?

Matt16:26

  1. We are all born under the curse.  Some have relatively problem free lives while others have difficulty, some extreme.
  2. Without their trust in God, those that we pray for may never experience healing, deliverance, or peace.
  3. There comes a turning point in one's life when one is not experiencing true prosperity to make a full commitment to God, regardless of how one looks, or to stay stuck in the particular problem they are facing.  Without complete surrender to God our prayers for them will not bear fruit.
  4. For those who have been born again, we must discern whether the trials they are facing are much more precious than gold that perishes or an aimless attack of the evil one to keep them from experiencing the mercy and grace of God.
  5. Prayers for Christians who are still battling the flesh and sin are more difficult to win than for those who have yielded to the Spirit and are walking in the Lord.
  6. If we who are praying for others and are not right with God ourselves, our prayers may not avail even though it is a prayer of faith.
  7. Having a gift of the Spirit is no indication that a person has worked out their salvation. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
  8. Our success in prayer is determined by our faith, our purity, our calling, and our love and the spiritual condition of the person for whom we are praying.  We may have to cast a spirit out before a physical healing can occur.
  9. The answer to our prayer for others may require a preliminary prayer of conviction of sin in order for the person to be in a position to experience the immediate answer to a particular problem.
  10. Rather than questions why God appears deaf  to our prayer, we should look within and evaluate our own spiritual condition as well as evaluate the spiritual state of the person being prayed for.
  11. A curse without a cause does not alight.  A curse causeless shall not come. Prov26:2
  12. The more you spend time with God the more you will be successful in prayer.  A soul that is still is open to the still small voice of God.
  13. God is not the cause of evil.  He is the solution.  The devil comes only to steal, kill and destroy. God comes to give an abundant life.  Jn10:10
  14. Study the word and you will rightly divide its truth  2Tim3:15
  15. Where there are at least two believers in agreement, there is power. Matt18:19
