A Little Leaven

A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
1Cor5:6 Gal5:9

There is no heaven with a little bit of hell in it and God does not want the saint to have even the slightest trace of sin in his or her life.  We must be free from sin.  We must have no part with sin.  We must not allow sin to have dominion over us.  How do we do this?

First we must line up our will with the will of God.  That means if the word of God says that lying is a sin and we are prone to lie, we must acknowledge the sin as being contrary to the will of God.  If God says lust is a sin, and we lust, we must acknowledge that as evil and no matter how good it feels, no matter how we enjoy it, we must condemn the sin as evil.  Then we must confess the word of God until we are free from that sin.  For example, if lust is your issue, confess “I crucify the flesh with its affections and lusts.”  If drinking is your sin, you confess “no drunkard has a place in the kingdom of God.”  The same is true if you are effeminate, an adulterer, or a whoremonger.  You must line up your will with God’s will regardless of whether it is your fault or not and not make excuses for the sin.  If you make excuses for the sin you will never be free.

In Jm3:6 the word of God says that the tongue can defile the whole body.  Cursing, lying, murmuring, complaining, criticizing and the like is like leaven.  The tongue is an unruly evil.  If the tongue is your problem confess James chapter three and believe God can deliver you from a tongue that can defile the whole body.

It is hard to imagine that one can be free from sin especially while we live in this body and in this world where so many things come against us but God’s word says we can and we will if we obey God and not our carnal nature.  So put on the armor of God and fight the good fight of faith and lay hold of eternal life.  Be instant in season and out of season and confess God’s word and line your will with the will of God and confess your faults one to another.  Then the peace of God which passes all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds bcause you will not be anxious for anything.  Believe that God can make you unleavened bread like Christ our Passover.

Amen.
